We are holding the ACS Division of Chemical Health and Safety Workshop “RAMP in the Research Lab'' again on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 2 PM to 5:30 PM EDT via Zoom.
This 3.5-hour workshop is for frontline researchers in academic institutions: graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and undergraduate students. It will introduce the principles of the RAMP paradigm (recognize hazards, assess risk, minimize risk, and prepare for emergencies), through a series of case studies and discussion sessions focused on practicing each of the RAMP steps. By the end, attendees will have learned and practiced how to systematically do a risk assessment of both existing protocols as well as for past incidents.
The workshop is $25 per attendee and participants will receive a certificate of participation to add to their resume or portfolio upon completion of the workshop. Click here for more information on the workshop and here to register by Friday, March 29, 2024. I am one of the moderators for this workshop and can answer any questions you may have. We appreciate your support!

Now Accepting Abstracts
Abstracts are now being accepted for the 2024 Middle Atlantic Regional Meeting (MARM). The theme, Celebrating Discovery, will be at the core of programming for the event.
The Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Chemical Society welcomes you to beautiful Happy Valley, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions, for the 52nd MARM from June 5 - 8!.
As scientists, discovery is at the forefront of everything we do. We build upon the discoveries of other scientists, make new discoveries ourselves, and publish those discoveries to complete the cycle. In recognition of the quarter-millenial anniversary of one of the most important discoveries of our time, the meeting's theme is "Celebrating Discovery." Through this theme, we will honor and celebrate the groundbreaking work of Joseph Priestley on the discovery of oxygen in 1774. We hope that MARM 2024 inspires you to make brand new discoveries and foster professional connections with scientists from all over the Mid-Atlantic!
Visit the website to find a list of the programming divisions and planned symposia open for submissions.
The deadline to submit an abstract is Monday, March 4.
