The Mid-Hudson Section participated in the ACS Poem Contest this year. The following are the top winners from our section. All of the students were from Red Hook Central High School under the instruction of Jason Pavlich.
The 1st place winner will be submitted to the National Poem Contest for a chance to win further prizes.

Chemists Celebrate Earth Week Illustrated Poem Contest
The Mid-Hudson Section had a National ACS Winner!
2023 Theme: The Curious Chemistry of Amazing Algae
Congratulations to the winners of the Mid-Hudson Section's Chemist Celebrate Earth Week Illustrated Poem Contest. Each winner will receive a Barnes and Noble gift card. The first place winner's submission will be entered into the National ACS competition.
UPDATE (May 26, 2023):
Zoe Phemister-Jimenez won second place in the 9-12 grade category of the National ACS 2023 Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) Illustrated Poem Contest pertaining to the theme, “The Curious Chemistry of Amazing Algae.” Zoe's winning poem entry will be featured on the campaign’s website at www.acs.org/ccew.
Zoe will receive a monetary award and her teacher, Tara Redican, will receive an Amazon gift card for her encouragement of science and this event.
