65th Annual Dutchess County Regional Science Fair
April 6, 2024
A total of 80 students participated in the 65th Annual Dutchess County Regional Science Fair on April 6th. The event was held in person at Dutchess Community College. Special thanks to Nicoline Kiwiet as the Coordinator, and Lynn Robinson and Ashutosh Sharma as the Judges of the Chemistry projects for the Mid-Hudson ACS special awards.
Three students were awarded a certificate and a $50.00 gift card. The following are the Outstanding Award recipients from the Mid-Hudson ACS:
* Jason Yang (Roosevelt High School, Hyde Park): "Synthesis of Aspirin using the extraction of salicylic acid from acne cream"
* Isabella Del Toro (St. Mary School, Fishkill): "How Sweet it Is"
* Vincenzo Lombardo (Dutchess Day School, Poughkeepsie): "The Power of Citrus"

A total of 110 students participated in the 64th Annual Dutchess County Regional Science Fair on March 25th. The event was held in person at Dutchess Community College. Nicoline Kiwiet coordinated the special judging for our Section. Special thanks to Lynn Robinson for helping Nicoline with the judging of the Chemistry projects. Three students were awarded a certificate and a $50.00 gift card.

A total of 77 students participated in the 63rd Annual Dutchess County Regional Science Fair on April 2nd. The event was held in person at Dutchess Community College. Special thanks to Dr. Nicoline Kiwiet, who served as the Mid-Hudson Section's coordinator, and to Dr. Tony Mitchell and Dr. Ashu Sharma, who joined Nicoline in judging the chemistry-related projects. 58th Annual Dutchess County Regional Science Fair - Results

The Mid-Hudson section volunteer Judges reviewed very exciting exhibits this year interacting with many young inspiring future scientists at the science fair. A total of 223 exhibits were on display at the Dutchess County Regional Science Fair. Our team reviewed 47 chemistry exhibits, and 29 exhibits in other categories, totaling 76 exhibits. This represents a total of 32% exhibits reviewed out of 223 projects presented at the fair, which is an amazing accomplishment.
I would like to acknowledge our Special Judges who volunteered their time representing ACS Mid Hudson Section. Our volunteers performed a fantastic job representing our section as Special Judges at the 58th Dutchess County Regional Science Fair as follows:
